Full Description: This holiday cottage is situated in Las Alpujarras on the southern slopes of the Sierra Nevada mountains. This area is famed for it's white villages, olive groves, almonds, grapes and citrus fruit. It's 45 minutes from historic Granada and 30 minutes from the beautiful white beaches of the Mediterranean coast.

There is skiing on the northen slopes of the Sierra Nevada, horse riding, walking, trout fishing and many pleasant bars and restaurants in which to flake out in the Andalusian sun! The climate is mild with winter sun and summer heat. Spring and Autumn are particularly delightful times to visit.

A ten minute drive from the bustling market town of Orgiva, the village of Bayacas, is small and easily accessible, a good place to relax and tour the area.

Spending time in the village will give you a good idea of life in provincial Spain. Thankfully Bayacas is not a holiday resort but the neighbours are friendly and helpful and any visiting children will be drawn into the local childrens games. The village is very safe, having no through traffic and multiple levels with odd nooks and crannies making it an ideal playground - and an interesting place to visit.

This traditional village is mentioned in the famous Chris Stewart book ¨Driving over Lemons¨ which details life for a foreigner in the Alpujarras.

Bayacas is also known for its picturesque church which is the oldest in the alpujarras. It was recently used as a location for the film "al sur de granada" based on the Gerald Brenan book.

The cottage, or cortijo, is situated 5 minutes walk from the village. It sits among olive and almond groves on a private and secluded terrace of half an acre. It is neccessary to walk the last 250 metres but the walk is not steep or difficult. When you arrive you will be in a quiet spot with stunning mountain views.

The cottage has a fully equipped kitchen, sitting room with a double sofa bed if needed, a modern shower room and double bedroom. A cot is available if required. Winter heating is provided by gas stove or tradtional wood burner, for which a small extra charge will be reqiured for wood.

Outside there is a large roofed patio under which you can relax or enjoy al fresco eating. The pool (3m x 5m) adjoins the patio and is for your exclusive use. Everything is provided including sheets and towels but not swimming towels.

The cottage is secluded and an ideal place to just come and relax, perfect for honeymooners or those wishing to catch up on their relationships or reading. During your stay you can try the owners organic produce such as olive oil, vegetables, fruits and almonds. The owner can also provide you with homemade, organic cooking if required.
